Privacy policy
Effective date: July 28, 2026 · Last updated: July 28, 2026
TrimWatt is an independent informational website operated from Switzerland. It is a non-commercial publication: there is no online store, no service sold, no contract concluded on the site, no user accounts, and no forms. This policy describes how the site actually works today.
What we collect today
We ask you for nothing. There is no newsletter form, no sign-up, no account, and no contact form — so there is nothing for you to submit and nothing for us to store. The calculators run entirely in your browser: the values you enter are never transmitted to us and are never saved. That said, loading a page does send technical request data to our host and, as described below, may send it to Google — so we do not claim that visiting the site sends nothing at all.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard technical request data — such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested — to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. We do not use that data to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with anything else.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
This site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors navigate the guides and calculators. It is the only analytics tool on the site.
Analytics collection stays switched off until you grant consent. We use Google Consent Mode v2, and every consent signal — analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalisation — starts in the denied state on every page load. While consent is denied, Google Analytics sets no analytics cookie and stores no identifier on your device.
If and when you grant consent, Google may process technical data — such as your IP address (truncated by Google before storage), browser and device type, approximate location derived from the IP address, referring source, and the pages you view — as a data processor for us, and as described in its own privacy terms. We do not use Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not upload any personal identifier to Google.
Google AdSense. TrimWatt is preparing to use Google AdSense, and the Google AdSense script may be loaded on the site. It is loaded for three reasons: to run Google’s certified consent management platform, to let Google verify ownership of this site, and to support advertising services in the future. Loading that script means your browser contacts Google and Google can receive technical data about the request — such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the page you are on — together with consent-mode pings that carry no cookie and no identifier. Exactly what Google receives depends on your consent choices and on how Google configures its own services.
No advertising is being served yet. Automatic ads are switched off for this site, no ad placement exists on any page, and no ad request is made — the blocks marked “Advertisement” are empty layout placeholders. There is therefore no advertising revenue, no personalised targeting, and no advertising cookie, and none of these will be active before the required consent is given. Fonts and images are served from the site itself, so loading a page does not call a third-party font or media service.
Your choices. Google’s consent management platform lets visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland consent, do not consent, or manage options in detail. Until you make a choice, every advertising and analytics signal stays in the deniedstate described above. We do not ask for consent to use your personal data for any purpose of our own.
Cookies actually observed
One cookie is set before you make any choice, and it belongs to the consent tool itself:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
FCCDCF | Google Funding Choices | Stores your consent state and preferences so the consent message is not shown again on every page | Consent management — necessary | Set and controlled by Google; we do not choose the lifetime and do not state one we have not verified |
Before consent, we observed no other cookie. In particular, no Google Analytics cookie (_ga, _gid) and no Google advertising cookie (__gads,__gpi) was set. The consent cookie above may nonetheless be created, because it is what records your choice. We will extend this table if further cookies appear, and we will add a way to review or withdraw your choices on the site.
Affiliate links
No affiliate programme is active, and there are no affiliate or tracking links anywhere on the site. If that changes, we will say so here and in our affiliate disclosure beforehand.
Your rights
We do not collect personal information directly through the website — there are no forms, accounts, or submissions. Limited technical request data is processed by our hosting provider, Vercel, and, once you consent, by Google Analytics, both as described above. If you have a privacy question, or want to exercise a right of access, correction, or deletion, you can email privacy@trimwatt.com.
As the site is operated from Switzerland, we aim to act consistently with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection; visitors in the EU/EEA retain the mandatory protections available to them under the GDPR. Nothing here removes protections you are entitled to under the law of your own country.
Changes
We will update this policy before activating any newsletter, advertising, or affiliate service, and before analytics consent can actually be granted — not after. The effective and last-updated dates above will change when we do.
