TrimWatt is an independent guide to a smarter, cheaper-to-run home. We cover smart home tech, energy savings, heating and cooling, and solar — always with the same lens: what does it cost, what does it save, and how fast does it pay back?

Why we exist

Most home-energy content is either thin how-to filler or a thinly veiled sales pitch. We do neither. Every guide leads with real numbers so you can make a confident decision without wading through jargon or hype.

How we source our numbers

Our cost and savings figures are built from public data published by the U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Star, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration, combined with current retail pricing. Estimates are illustrative — your actual figures depend on your home, local rates, and region — and we say so clearly wherever we show a number.

How we make money

TrimWatt is intended to be funded by display advertising and affiliate commissions. Neither is active yet: no ad network is connected and no affiliate links are live on the site today. When that changes, it will never influence our rankings or recommendations — see our affiliate disclosure for details.
